This Saturday saw the ladies 2nd team travel to Lydney to take on Lydney’s 2nd team in an away game. Yate put pressure on the Lydney defence from early on, building the play to get a number of shots on goal. Striker Natalie Summers scored the first goal for the Yate side followed by a second goal by Jen. The second half saw some more attacking play from Lydney, however Yate defended well and managed to keep out any goals. After a number of unsuccessful short corners the Yate team finally managed to connect and took a third goal. This sees the Yate team continue their positive start to the season in Berkeley Division 1, having beat Pucklechurch and Old Bristolians in recent weeks. Last season the team narrowly missed on out promotion so will be hoping to finish top of the table this year. Player of the match went to Ruth Belcher for some brilliant midfield play.
Yate 0-3 Wotton
Yate Ladies 3s were in action at the weekend against Wotton Under Edge in Berkeley Division Both teams are new to the league, Wotton having been relegated from the league above whilst Yate ladies 3s are newly promoted this season from Berkeley Division 2. This was going to be a tough match for Yate against the current league leaders. The Yate team started well keeping play in the oppositions half with several early attempts on goal. A quick break from the Wotton Under Edge put them in the lead which was followed with a second goal to bring the score to 0-2 at half time. Despite the promising bits of play coming from the Yate ladies, holding Wotton in the second half and advancing towards goal, it wasn’t to be. Wotton grabbed a third goal with the game finishing 0-3. It was a well fought match by the Yate ladies 3s against the league leaders and a performance to build on for the matches in the coming weeks. Yate 3s next play in the league on the 5th November at home against Redland UWE 2s.
