Yate Nomads 1st team 9 Westbury 0

Following last weeks opening win, Yate were quickly off the blocks in their first home fixture of the Summer against Westbury, with Elliot Lawrence scoring with a fine reverse shot in the opening 90 seconds. However, far from galvanising the team, Yate then struggled to create any rhythm going forward until some excellent work from Josh Johnson, Dom Chambers and Matt Clark led to Colin Thompson doubling the score with a lucky deflection off a Westbury defender. Following another swift attack, Yate were awarded a penalty corner and Tom Clarke scored with a great deflection and great build up play by Rhys Gamlin and Angus Friell led to another deflected goal by Thompson. As the interval approached, Yate were awarded a penalty flick and Matt Child finished with some panache to give Yate a 5-0 advantage.

The second half was one-way traffic with Nick Perry-Gough scoring from close range, and a few minutes later a defence splitting pass by Aaron Thomas found Danny Pearce, who flicked the ball into the roof of the net . Things settled down for a period with Benji Macey dominating the middle of the pitch and moving the ball quickly to the inside channels to create space for the forwards to launch several more attacks. From one such pass, youngster Matt Hall found space down the right and a crash ball into the 'D' found Gamlin unmarked and he finished with a sweet reverse shot into the corner. Clarke completed the scoring thanks to a great assist from Alex Robins. To their credit, Westbury never gave up and GK Ollie Baldwin had to be off his line smartly to prevent a couple of goals towards the end
